Due To The Bad Weather Conditions Telford Music School Is Closed Today Sunday 18th March !!

  • I have been coming to Telford Music School for around four years now, learning to play the Keyboard. When I first came to the music school, I was ready to take my Grade 2 Keyboard exam as I had transferred from another music school. The music teachers at Telford Music School made me feel welcome when I first joined and they were able to teach me from where I was taught up to in the previous music school. I have now just passed my Grade 5 Keyboard exam.    I enjoy coming to Telford Music School as there is high quality teaching and the music teachers are really friendly and easy to talk to and get on with. I come from Whitchurch (Shropshire) which is a 40 minute drive to the music school, but because of the learning experience that I have at Telford Music School, it is well worth the journey and well worth the money that I spend. I would definitely recommend them.

  • I have been having music lessons at the Telford Music School from the age of 6 years and I am now 15 years old. I have since completed my keyboard DipLCM with distinction and I am now working towards the ALCM with Jayne. I am also currently preparing for my DipLCM in piano under the tutelage of Anne.    I look forward to my music lessons with both Jayne and Anne, who are warm friendly and extremely supportive at all times, as are all the other teaching staff. Teachers bend backwards in this school to cater to every need of their students.    The music school organises concerts regularly, allowing one to develop confidence in their abilities and showmanship which is an integral part of being a musician.    Drama, singing and a variety of instruments are taught at the school and students range from primary school to adults.    I would without doubt recommend Telford Music School for the ethos and the environment that is so conducive to learning and to the development of one's musical abilities, or even if one chooses to play for leisure.

  • My daughters have been attending Telford Music School for the past 4 years. Jayne and all the teachers are warm and welcoming and have worked well with them to bring our their confidence and potential.   Molly & Ellie have so far completed Grade 4 Musical Theatre both achieving Distinctions. Ellie has also completed Grade 3 Speech and Drama with Distinction. The girls have very much enjoyed being a part of TMS taking part in various workshops and performing at concerts, Christmas lights switch on in the square at Wellington and at the Princess Royal hospital.   TMS is like a big family, lessons are professional but great fun and work towards individual goals. I myself with no previous musical experience have this year challenged myself to learn the drums. I can honestly say I have found the experience so far very enjoyable and rewarding and will definitely be continuing for a while yet!  Our time spent here is time well spent. I would recommend TMS highly to anyone.

  • My son Thomas has been attending TMS for keyboard lessons for over 3 years (since he was 6). In the last two years since Jayne has been running the school he has really excelled and has attained distinctions in the three exams taken so far.    I have been very impressed with the changes in the school, the increase in lessons offered, the influx of new teachers, the attendance of outside performances and concerts and the general décor and look of the school. I have no hesitation in recommending people to have lessons or send their children for lessons at Telford Music School, there is a high quality of teaching and the exam results of all the students speak for themselves. I certainly plan to be there to see Thomas achieve his Grade 8 !!!

Saturday & Sunday - 9am - 5.30pm

Our teachers provide lessons for people of ALL ages and abilities. We make sure that all lessons - be they group or individual - are designed to meet the needs of each pupil. This way, we can measure progress and ensure that you and your family are getting the most from each and every lesson with us.

Our warm, musical and lively atmosphere attracts learners not only from our local area, but also from Shropshire, the West Midlands and as far away as Cheshire. With three well-equipped teaching rooms we are ready to meet all your learning requirements. The free car parking opposite the school means we are easily accessible.

A well-established school at the heart of the community, we organise charity concerts at The Rock Methodist Church, Wellington, and at other venues. We also play in The Square, Wellington for the Christmas Lights switch-on in November, and often at summer events, too. For the many pupils who choose to perform at such events, they gain the valuable experience of performing in public, and the chance to demonstrate their newly-learned skills and abilities. Some pupils choose to enter local competitions throughout the year and we always offer support and encouragement to them.

TMS Welcomes New Teacher

Dale Knayston
Dale has been around the world of singing and performing since the age of 7, when he first started taking lead roles in school productions.

He became heavily involved in the world of light operatic and amateur dramatics in Shropshire and the midlands, where he took accolades such as Best Actor awards at regional competitions.

In the mid 80s and early 90s, Dale submerged himself into the world of a capella singing by becoming involved in the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) and is now a member of their Hall of Fame, for his services to the organisation. Dale became a BABS national Judge and was often seen running classes at national and international education events in the UK and Holland. Dale has been asked on two occasions to teach at the A capella Festival in Oxford alongside the likes of Ben Parry and Ken Burton. In 1991, Dale started directing a local choir and took them from their initial national ranking of last place, to achieve 5
th place, from around 55 national groups. During Dale’s tenure as Director, the group was well known for it’s artistic performances.

Dale has sung in several top level quartets, including 3 National Champion, Gold Medal winning quartets. He has represented Great Britain on the International stage on 8 occasions in the USA and Canada and on his last trip (Las Vegas 2017) , his quartet gained the highest score and placing for a British quartet ever.

Over the years, Dale has been involved in coaching many different groups across the UK and Europe, not only in the world of Barbershop but also individuals of all ages, show groups and a variety of other groups from all musical genre.

Dale arranges a capella music, produces learning tracks and currently directs his own mixed a capella community choir numbering 50-60 regular singers. Occasionally Dale will perform solo for weddings and special occasions.
